What we are providing
The Rooted Lens Experience harkens back to Black portrait studios from the 1940s to the 1990s. We curate interactive spaces where attendees are photographed and invited to share their stories. We believe our photography experience offers an unparalleled way to expand and reimagine this powerful ritual that honors presence, voice, and visibility.
Using venues or art spaces as part of our installations, coupled with a customized backdrop, and the expertise of two filmmakers/photographers, Stephanie Malson and Eboni Zamani, we create a one-of-a-kind moment for your guests.

BE Light Studios
Be Light Studios, helmed by Stephanie Malson and Eboni Zamani, is a collaborative incubator space for the moving image, photography, and audio production that aligns artists, technicians, and the community to create cultural work. Our collective mission is to reimagine the quality of life for Black people in Philadelphia via three elements: creative employment, cultural preservation, and a safe third space for arts and culture.
